So let me first describe the Christ from my upbringing, because theoretically Jesus is the center of any Christian faith, and given that the rapidly expanding group within America might have little sense about him as they consider themselves skeptics or uncertain individuals or religiously unaffiliated. I have no problem with these different approaches, nor with any other faith; yet I maintain that exist valuable insights of substantial value in the Christian story.
It is emphatically not the narrative of a mighty king arising; instead, a baby is born to homeless parents in an automotive shelter, who need to rapidly escape to a foreign land to evade secret police. The infant develops in modest conditions, an employed craftsman; his message is about love for fellow humans, particularly for the disadvantaged – and not a sentimental love, but tangible care, shown by providing food and housing. Jesus' answer to hostility is to turn the other cheek – not as a gesture of compliant endurance, but as a method to teach the attacker; his crime policy states that when someone steals your outer garment you ought to provide them your pullover also.
The evident and clear truth that the Savior in biblical accounts requests a form of extreme compassion focused on the impoverished has perpetually caused Christian religion somewhat of a scandalous religion: appealing to the populace, but due to its intrinsic extremism requiring to be controlled. In the fifties it was contained via weakening – Protestant Christianity was so dominant that it practically blessed current circumstances.
